My grandsons and I on Main Street in Disneyland Paris

Times flies when you are having fun and we just cannot believe that it is this time of the year again. We have recently got back from yet another fantastic St. Davids (Welsh Festival) tour to Disneyland Resort Paris, happy and buzzing from all the excitement and laughing but just a little exhausted from all the walking. It’s onwards and upwards as we are meeting our next groups in Austria. Snow, sun and skis, following our Disney adventures what more could we ask for!

Disneyland never fails to be wonderful, the weather this year was cold but then you wrap up and meet the cold with a smile on your face and keep on enjoying the magic and fun Disneyland has to offer. The first Friday of March we met a bus load of super excited children at the Hotel Cheyenne for a fun weekend with Mickey and all his friends.

Every year Disneyland Resort Paris host St David's Welsh Weekend and we have been travelling with groups for the occasion for 10 years now and it is always fun. For the festival stalls are set up in the park to promote Welsh produce like Welsh sheepskin, Welsh cakes, love spoons, beers, wines, cheeses, art and craft to name a few. The talented Aelwyd y Waun Ddyfal Choir honoured Disneyland’s visitors with their presence and beautiful voices, performing both Welsh traditional songs and popular songs. They also sang a Disney Medley created in 2014 with special participation from the Urdd National Eisteddfod.

Then there was the annual Welsh Pre-parade of the DISNEY MAGIC ON PARADE which for this special weekend only goes Welsh. It is always a good one and special to see Minnie and Mickey Mouse dressed up in traditional Welsh costumes. The day came to an end with Welsh Festival Fireworks where Sleeping Beauty’s Castle comes alive with the Welsh colours of St David’s Day.

It has to be said that this is an amazing experience as Wales is a relatively small country and therefore it is so wonderful that Disneyland Paris has taken on a whole weekend of the year to celebrate Welsh way of living and culture. It is brilliant and done so well by Disneyland that our groups and us just keep coming back for it.

Our preferred hotel when staying at Disneyland Resort Paris is the Resort Hotel Cheyenne, a two star Wild West style hotel approximately 20 minute walk from the Disney Park or a few minutes by free shuttle. It is perfect for “Little Sherrifs” with children’s menu in restaurant, a “Little Sherrif’s Corner” with various activities, outdoor play area with teepees, TV with international channels and story telling on the radio in bedrooms and a Game Arcade. Plenty to do for young ones. In addition other facilities include, currency exchange, 1 bar, 1 restaurant, Disney shop, laundrette, free Wi-Fi in hotel lobby and bar areas, free car park, free shuttle bus to the Disney Parks and Disney Village. We think that is just about perfect, if you are interested please do not hesitate to send us a line and we can discuss your future trip to the Welsh Festival in Disneyland Paris.

From the mountains and snow of Austria we hope you have a good weekend, we’ll update from Austria shortly

Julie and Wayne
