We might have mentioned once or twice how much we adore Zell am See and the whole of Salzburgerland. It is worth mentioning that the area doesn’t lose its charm and magic as the snow melts away. Zell am See is one of the most scenic and loved summer destinations in Austria. It is wonderfully located on the shores of the crystal clear blue lake Zeller and cocooned by the Grossglockner mountain region.
The whole Salzburgerland takes on a new life with the warmer temperatures the summer sun brings. It’s perfect for hiking, trekking, cycling and is truly the best time to learn about Alpine culture, history and nature.
The Hohe Tauern National Park is only a short drive away which is home to plants and fauna unique to this spectacular alpine ecosystem nestled in the largest glacial area of the Eastern Alps. Guided tours with National Park Rangers can be arranged and they’ll take you to the most breathtaking waterfalls, mountain lakes and racing glacial streams and rivers, where pastures cultivated by man meet untouched nature.
The enjoyment of the National Park is not reserved for experienced hikers as you can head to the viewing platform Top of Salzburg and Gipfelwelt 3000 (National Park Gallery) on the Kitzsteinhorn mountain and accessible via cable car. The viewing platform towers 3.029 meters above sea level and offers marvellous views over Austria's mightiest mountains.

After taking in the view you’ll head on into the Gipfelwelt 3000 experience and gallery which is built into the mountain peak. The gallery provides interesting details about the Hohe Tauern National Park and the Kitzsteinhorn’s geography and history.

Hohe Tauern National Park Centre in Mittersill is another way to learn more about the region and brings visitors closer to nature and its inhabitants in a magical and educational way.
It’s hard not to get The Hills are Alive with The Sound of Music song stuck on one's mind while traversing the Alpine villages and valleys. A trip to the picturesque World Heritage City of Salzburg might just do the trick to scratch that itch. Yes we are talking about a Sound of Music Tour where you follow the steps of the Trapp family through Salzburg and its surroundings while learning about the historical and architectural landmarks of the city. On a more classical note, Salzburg’s real pride of the city is its most favourite Salzburger, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. The musical genius who truly revived the hills with music. There are various Mozart tours available in Salzburg and concerts to enjoy.
Music is everywhere and takes on many different forms and Salzburger villages regularly host their own musical events. Everything from traditional Tyrollean bands, jazz, opera, classical to more modern beats and everything in between.
We highly recommend a summer trip to the Austrian Alps for families and friends, schools and other groups.
